Rev. Richard James, is a well respected Associate Minister here at CMBC. He is a very dedicated member who serves faithfully under Pastor Robert E. Harper. He was licensed to preach on June 29th, 2014. He's the proud father of two loving daughters, Daveoone and Ashley, and grandfather to Nekira, Elijah and Nala. Two sons passed away shortly after birth. For a time, he sang God's praises with the Men's Choir, but currently attends Bible Study, Sunday School and drives the CMBC Van, he wears many hats!.
In the year 1973, Rev. James moved to Chicago from his hometown of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and was baptized along with his mother, Nellie and younger brother. Born the eldest of two boys of Nellie and Richard James Sr., he grew up very close to his brother.
Throughout his childhood years, Rev. James was very athletic and extremely good at any sport he decided to play. He attended Devry University where he studied Electrical Engineering but he later felt that he wanted to do something more. At the age of 19 he enlisted with the U.S. Marines Corp, following in the footsteps of his father who had served in the same branch. After serving 4 years, stationed as a sergeant in California, he returned and worked for the U.S. Postal Service. He currently works for the City of Chicago.
As an adult, Rev. James' passion was always to play the sports he loved. He played football while in the Marine Corp and continues to play golf and enjoys bowling. He earned many trophies and awards for his golf and bowling accomplishments.
Rev. Richard James is a wonderful servant of God! He will preach to anyone, anywhere, anytime about the Good Words of the Lord. He is not afraid to tell those with an ear and can hear, just how good God is!
