This month the members of CMBC proudly salute Mother Tempie Thomas as she celebrates her very special 100th birthday!
Mother Thomas was born February 2, 1914 in Meridian, MS. She has 5 children, 21 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 17++ great-grandchildren. She is well respected as an honorary grandmother to many in the Roseland Community.
To her credit, she has been a member of CMBC since 1972 where she continues to serve faithfully today with the Mother's and Missions Ministry and also as a Sunday School Teacher.
Once a week, on Tuesday, Mother Thomas visits Residents of the Dawson Nursing Facility. She serves as the head of the Spiritual Life Ministry for the Bethlehem District Association. She visits the sick and shut-in and represents CMBC in a variety of District functions. (i.e., teas, King & Queen, Candy Drives, Women in White, etc.)
Mother Thomas's beliefs and life's goals are grounded in Christianity. She enjoys cooking, gardening and looking after children. She believes in doing good things for others and not taking, because "you cannot pay for the pay you might get"! She practices and knows the power of prayer and that it changes things! Her favorite saying is, "Treat your fellow man as you want to be treated!"This is evident by the many, both young and old, who call her daily with prayer requests.
Mother Thomas truly loves her children and her Church. She is a devoted grandmother to her own and half of the neighborhood residents as well. She's known for taking in all strays. It doesn't matter whether they are animals (dogs and cats), and yes, people too! She is very generous and kind to no end. Because her house is an open door, you never know who you might bump into there. She is known as "Madea" and is loved by all who know her.
CMBC is very proud to honor you, Mother Tempie Thomas, and wish you a "Happy 100th Birthday!" May God continue to you bless your life and give you the desires of your heart!
