Sister Eva Walker can be seen entering the Sanctuary sporting her friendly inviting smile and quiet demeanor. She is a dedicated member who joined under the leadership of the late Pastor John Taylor and continues to serve faithfully under Pastor Robert E. Harper. She loves her Pastor and the CMBC Church family.
Sister Walker was born on May 13th in Lexa Arkansas to parents Charlotte and Finnie Walker, both are now deceased. She is the forth of five children of which her eldest sister, Joyce Maxine Purches, previously a member of CMBC, also preceded her in death.
During her younger years, Sister Walker lived and worked on her parents farm, but eventually decided that country living was simply NOT for her! She jumped into the car of a relative who was traveling to Chicago and the rest is history! She became a member of her Aunt, Evangelist Eva Mae Galloway's, church where she served many years before joining CMBC. She sang with the Gospel Choir for a while, but now enjoys attending Sunday School and church events and programs.
Sister Walker loves to listen to old time gospel music and some blues as well. She cherishes many fond memories of her times growing up in the deep south, surrounded by her family. Her passion lies with everything that is "Old fashioned"!
Within the past year, Sister Walker was seriously injured in an accident that resulted in her being hospitalized and rehabilitated for a very lengthy period. Her recovery is on-going but she is grateful to be alive. A true believer who understands that Christ is real....that's Sister Walker!
As an example of what it means to be a dedicated member, Sister Walker used public transportation prior to the accident to come to Church on a regular basis. Regardless of how extremely hot or frigid cold the weather would be, she continued her difficult commute. Her priority was and still is to serve the Lord. That's true dedication!
