The members of CMBC would like to recognize Edgar and Victoria Anderson as the Members of the Month for April 2012.
Edgar Benjamin Anderson II served the city of Chicago for 28 years with the Chicago Police Department. He also served our country in Vietnam. He and Victoria dated for 8 years before they married in 2006. He considers himself the unofficial photographer for Christian Missionary Baptist Church. His greatest passion is helping Vietnam Veterans receive monetary benefits and the medical assistance.
Victoria Coleman-Anderson, has been such an inspiration to all who know her. Much of her perspectives and thoughts about life are derived from her life experiences. Victoria has served our country, for 28 years, in the United States Army. She also worked 15 years for the Illinois Department of Public Aid (currently The Department of Human Services) and a number of other jobs to ensure her three children (Lawrence, Nicole and Tyrone) had the best life possible. After she served our country for 28 years in the Army National Guard, she began working at the Chicago Military Academy Bronzeville. Throughout her career, she has won countless awards. At the age of 62 and eight years at the academy as a JROTC Instructor, she finally decided to retire in June 2011.
Upon her retirement, Victoria decided that she wanted to get more involved in her community. Victoria has a heart for men and woman who serve our country in the armed services.
Currently she is the Veteran’s Commissioner in Hazel Crest Illinois. In addition to being involved in the community, she also plans to return to school and obtain her BA degree in Sociology. Although Victoria remains to be a busy woman, she still finds time for her six grandchildren; Lawrence Jr., Lawrenzo, Lander, Prince, Tailyn, and Jordan.
Victoria has been a member of Christian Missionary Baptist Church for over 10 years. Victoria regularly attends weekly bible study, Sunday school and is a choir member.
The members of Christian Missionary Baptist Church are blessed to have Edgar and Victoria as part of our congregation. They both demonstrate that once you retire from the world, there is still much work left to do for God's church and his people. We would like to thank them for their continued dedication to God and our church.
