Church & Pastor's Anniversary
CMBC Youth Pride
John, affectionately nicknamed "Tony" by his beloved Mom, Elouise Nobles, moved to Chicago with his parents and siblings from Waynesboro, MS at the age of eight.  He met Merrie Snow shortly after he graduated from Crane High School, while she was a freshman at John Marshall High. They were married four years later and Feb. 2013 will mark their 45th year anniversary.  Both have been CMBC members for 34 years. John became a Deacon after he was officially Ordained by Pastor John Taylor in December 1981, and continues to serve faithfully under the leadership of Pastor Robert E. Harper.

Deacon John Nobles
As a member of the Deacon's Ministry, John currently holds the position of Sergeant-At-Arms. He loves being a part of the Male Choir, and is a member of the Men's class in Sunday School. Singing God's praises, is a passion of his, and he enjoys leading the congregation in song during Sunday Morning Devotion. His favorite scripture in the bible is the 23rd Psalms, and his favorite song is "Glory, Glory Hallelujah". John likes to travel with his family and enjoys any and all sports on TV. In fact, Merrie sometimes has to remind him that he's not scheduled in the team's lineup, so it's actually ok to leave the house!

John & Merrie have three daughters, Valencia (Stanton), Portia (Robert), Sherita (Darrell) and seven precious grandsons, Brandon, Cameron, Jonathan, Matthew, Nicholas, Christian and Jordan. He says that they are the sons he never had, and they never cease to remind him of this when they are at his house on weekdays. "Yes" he's definitely got boys!

John worked at the Chicago Transit Authority in the Rail Maintenance Department as a Team Leader and retired in 1997 after 29 years. He worked seven additional years fueling 757 and 737 airplanes for the Signature Flight Co. (Midway Airport), before permanently retiring in May 2005.

Appreciated for his great humor, John likes to make friends and family laugh, while saying exactly what's on his mind without ever personally offending anyone. He is a great husband, father and grandfather who loves his family, extended Church family and best of all, he loves the Lord.

We salute you Deacon John Nobles! Keep doing God's work!
