Brother Calvin Flippin is a highly regarded member and a fantastic singer here at CMBC. He confessed Christ at an early age under the leadership of his father, the late Rev. Columbus Flippin in Memphis TN, where he was born. He currently serves faithfully under Pastor Robert E. Harper and is a very talented and versatile member. Flippin, as he is called, is a lead singer with both the Male Choir, and the Gospel Choir, and on occasion serves as the director.   He's a prayerful member, who likes to cook and voluntarily assists with cleaning up the dining room after meals.
Brother Flippin is a native of Memphis TN, and is the eldest of three siblings, a sister, Dr. Regina Flippin of Milwaukee, WI and a brother Michael Flippin of Memphis. Both parents preceded him in death. He has one daughter, Kamisha Flippin, who is the mother of his two granddaughters.
A  loving Aunt, Sis. Elora Parker and several cousins are also dedicated CMBC members. He cherishes another member, his very special friend/companion, Sis. Lorraine Williams, who has a special daughter (Lyda) for whom he is a dutiful and loving helper and father figure.
During his early years, Brother Flippin excelled in scholastic achievements and could literally "create anything out of nothing"! Meaning, at the age of twelve, with the help of his younger brother, Michael, He invented a Robot that could walk and talk. He created this monster merely from electronics he found around the house. Clearly an inventor before his time, in 1975 he was the youngest person to ever create such a feat. As a result, he received congratulatory letters from Pres. Jimmy Carter and was featured on local television and radio shows. This eventually led to his induction into the Congressional Book of Records, which was a great honor!

Brother Flippin loved the sciences and music, was a member of the National Honor Society, was voted most popular, and was also honored as the most talented student. He once performed as the lead singer with the "Flippin Trio" gospel singing group. They provided musical entertainment through out the Memphis, Arkansas and Mississippi areas.
.
After High School graduation, Brother Flippin was accepted by many colleges, but chose to begin his career with the US Marine Corps instead. After completing his tenure, he worked as an electrician for the Memphis Light, Gas and Water companies over a 15 year period.
"Brother Calvin Bernard Flippin", you have a charm and personality that is second to none! You are appreciated and loved by your CMBC Brothers and Sisters in Christ! Keep doing the work that pleases "Our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ"!
