Christian Missionary Baptist Church is proud to recognize Sister Barbara Richard as our March 2016 honoree. A very faithful and dedicated member, she has served under the leadership of the late Pastor John Taylor and currently serves under Pastor Robert E. Harper.
Barbara attends Sunday School, Bible Class, and is a member of the Scholarship Committee as well as the Nursing Home Ministry.
Sister Richard is the Mother of Kwanda Richard and devoted grandmother of Malik Waddy. She is the daughter-in-law of Trustee Emeritus Blanche Marbly, and the sister of Sis. Deborah Robertson.
A very loving, caring, spiritual, and positive person to be around, she is always willing to help a person out regardless of their situation.
Sister Richard's favorite quote is, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!" Despite suffering from vision loss and a battle with breast cancer, she remains a very faithful, loyal and dedicated worker for the Lord.
Sister Richard's early dreams inspired her to achieve a great career. While growing up, she always wanted to help the youth, so she decided to become an educator. She began her teaching career in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and later taught for the Chicago Public Schools for 38 years before retiring in June 2011.
Since retirement, Sister Richard has been busy and on the go non-stop. It's as though you need to schedule an appointment just to spend time with her! She's a great example to others as she is involved in the Red Hat Society, Progressive MBC Senior Club, the KROC Center Senior Club, CMBC Nursing Home Ministry, Wilberforce University National Alumni Association, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority National Association, and the Blind Services Association.
Traveling and taking cruises around the World is her passion and enjoyment. She loves her family and enjoys spending quality time with her grandson/helper Malik. To know her is to absolutely love her!
Sister Barbara Richard, you are someone people can always count on, particularly in difficult moments! That is a sign that you are living your life honorably.
